Grouper is a computational interface design — a web-based platform supporting researchers working with (visual) digital collections. The platform positions researchers at the centre of their inquiry, offering them the possibility to create, manage and visualise a collection within their research process.
Developed in collaboration with Elif Kocabıyık Savasta, Grouper has been applied in multiple research contexts, including the study of the design heritage of the Izmir International Fair and architectural ephemera collections.
The platform addresses key challenges in digital humanities and design research: how to navigate large heterogeneous collections, how to establish meaningful connections between items, and how to support interpretation through interactive visualisation.
